Journal Two

Writing style reflects who you are. Therefore, in order to be a good writer, you have to find out your own writing style. At least, that was I got from my lecturer. My first journal was about the importance of writing but this time, I would like to share you what I got from my writing class.

First, my writing class is upholding precision. In other words, if there is any failure on spelling or how to write something, our lecturer will cross out the words so that we can understand where our fault was. I was very conscious about what I want to write but I always miss something. Therefore, there will be some minor mistakes which is done by myself due to my lack of consciousness.

Second, I have to work a little bit harder in arranging sentences so that it becomes a good sentences and understandable for my reader. It takes long time than writing itself. I have found this struggles when I arranged sentences for my autobiography. It was stressful but thankfully, I made it.

Last but not least, I think I have to put my effort even more because I have seen a lot of unseen potential in myself. Therefore, in order to develop myself, I need to learn some vocabularies and clauses so that my writing becomes beautiful and excellent.

Self Improvement Means Struggle

Do not get it wrong. I am performing drama, by the way.

Human, as a social-based creature which means they cannot live alone in this world and have to support each other in order to live, must have had an event in their life either unusual or important event. So, what is an event? In my opinion, an event is a process which happened due to human interaction with each other and triggers memorable experiences. Therefore, all of us must have an important event in our life especially myself. Allow me to tell you more about my life.

First important event which happened in my life is my education struggle. Based on the scientific researches on factsite.com,  the average person spends 15 years in education, doing a standard eight hours per day; excluding weekends and this brings the total to 1305 days, which is 43 months compared with our average life expectancy which is estimated to be 79 years old. It means that human will spend one fifth of their lifetime from school to college. Therefore, education must have contributed something to the event which happened to human and including me.

It started when I was at elementary school, I used to be a person which has no interest in education at all because I was the only student who had the highest score even though I did not study hard. It happened because during my school, I had no rival and my friends were lazier than myself and that made me automatically became the smartest of the dumbest but it did not make me proud of myself because I did not fight for it until that day came, the day when a new student joined with my class. It was a girl and she introduced herself as Intan. At first, I did not see her either as smart or diligent student and I thought that she was an ordinary student like the others. How bad I was!

It was proven when she got an ordinary score for her exam. I was like: “Yeah, I am the one who have the highest score (of the dumbest)”. However, it did not last for long until she gradually managed to pass over my score and then she finally succeeded to be the smartest in my class. Ashamed yet challenged, this occurrence has become a turning point of my life and motivated me to learn and study every day so that nobody could offset over my smartness.

Coming after that, the second important event was non-study related but mental enhancement for my life. It was bully, activities which is done in order to make someone else live in a painful way. What will you feel when your friends throw a full-loaded trash bin above your head in the class? Will you forgive them? I was shocked and I did not know what to do at that time. I did not blame but forgive them even my mental was still shocked after the incident. That was nothing compared to the next heart-breaking bully sequences which has made a big impact for me.

Last but not least, the third important event was a confidence development. It came from Mr. Anas, my mathematic teacher, who has taught me how to think positively over myself. He motivated me to know myself, he said: “You have to turn yourself into you”.

Several years after my graduation from junior high school, I did not get what he said even I repeated the words every day until I finally realized the truth powerful meaning behind it and the words have become my favorite quote for my life after.

Turning yourself into you means you do not have to be the other in order to have smartness, capability of doing everything but you have to develop yourself with your own way so that it makes you a better person than yesterday. Now, the last question be like: “Will you be yourself?”.

Autobiography: People Around Us

Hello people! How are you? I hope you guys are okay!

Yesterday, I have told you about my appearance and personality. This time, I would like to share you about people around myself. There are many people around me and their existence have given a big impact to my life especially to my development. On the other words, they are special for me and without their existence, I would be nothing. A bit curious, aren't you? Let us check it out!

First of all, my family. I believe that all of us will state "family" as the most special people in our life. My family has been doing the same things, too. They are always nice to me. They are my father, Simon; my mother, Sylvi; and my sister, Rachel. I am thankful because I was born in this family with their simplicity. My parents are easy going and kind-hearted. They are well-organized on doing something and this explains why I am good at arranging plans.

My father is the most hard-working person in our family because he is able to do (almost) everything and his personality has inspired me to become like him. He is my father, the person that we can rely on whenever we have a problem. Then, my mother is the wisest person because she always gives their child some advices whenever we suffered something which cannot be solved especially when I have some meaningless fights with my sister. Next, my sister is the most talkative person in my house and trust me that you will not be able to follow what she says when she activates her super-fast talking mode. Do you know rapper singer? Yeah, I think her super-fast talking mode is faster than a rapper singer. Hahaha.

Talking about family, we have our quality family time in order to strengthen our bonds with each other. Usually, it is on the weekends because we can spend our day without worrying anything and we share everything about our funny or inspiring experience to build some good atmosphere among us. Believe it or not, a lot of people see our family have no limitation in the relationship because you can not see the barrier between a mother and child. However, that is just what people say about our family. In fact, we have barrier in order to respect each other and we also have our own privacy although sometimes we share our struggle.

The second is my friend. I have many friends and all of them have contributed to my self development. Through struggle and misunderstood, by the anger and fight, the process happened to develop my life to be better than yesterday. However, I have never hated my friends although they are doing something bad to me and that is why my mom said to me that I was too kind to everyone.

There is another reason why I had so many friends. Do not be surprised because I have moved from six different schools; they are SD Siswa Tama, SDN Petiken III, SMPN 10, SMPN 28, SMAN 22 and the last one was SMAK St. Louis 2. Of course, at every school, everyone acknowledges myself better than any other students due to my uniqueness.

If you think that my cleverness was innate from my parents then you are totally wrong. I did not get it instantly through an instant way. I have suffered breath-taking moments which cannot be imagined by everyone even my mother did not know about this story. Through bullying, I pushed myself harder than everyone in order to prove that Yonatan is not the person like what they have said to me before.

Dear friends wherever you are, do not let bully make yourself being unconfident but let bully makes you stronger than before. Prove that you are not the person like that by pushing yourself harder than before. Let the world knows that you are capable of doing everything.

Last words. A quote says: “There are millions people who live in this world. Then, why are you letting one of them bring you down?”. It means, do not listen about what they have said to you but prove yourself that they are wrong.
